Why may I test negative for CPn?

A negative result from a CPn blood test does not necessarily mean that you do not have CPn.  There are many factors that can contribute to a negative result, these include sensitivity and accuracy of the blood technician; the serology may not be evident due to the infection being in a cryptic phase or your immune system just may be so depleted that it no longer produces positive antigens for CPn.

A medical professional should consider several factors before suggesting a CPn diagnosis; this may include symptoms, serology, and a positive reaction to treatment.
