Why do I need to take antibiotics for so long?

A prescribed treatment schedule over the specified duration is required to successfully address all life stages of CPn; leaving even a few residual spores may facilitate the return of chronic disease.  The complexity of CPn consequently requires an equally complex treatment for adequate eradication. Due to the varying bacterial loads in each individual and the varying duration of illness, it is difficult to ascertain exact recovery outcomes. Keep in mind, it is not unusual to be prescribed a 2 or 3 year treatment composed of cysteine supplementation, antibiotics and appropriate diet.  In order not to overwhelm the body with toxins, a slow, stepwise yet long protocol is followed.
